The drive is difficult at times but the mixture of the colorful population and the stunning mountain backdrop makes for an interesting journey. You encounter rarely visited minorities and explore the magnificent temples of Luang Prabang and also the world's sleepiest capital, Vientiane. |

DETAILED ITINERARY |
|
Day 1: Arrival - Vientiane
You are warmst welcomed by our guide on arrival at Wattay Airport and transferred to hotel. The charming and fascinating capital of Laos, Vientiane is a small city conjuring up exotic images, with the curious mix of Lao, Thai, Chinese,Vietnamese, French influences.
• Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane. This amazing structure features remarkable frescoes and Buddha statues.
• Haw Pha Kaew which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image.
• Patouxai standing in Lane Xang Avenue. This imposing monument is well known as Vientiane's own Arc de Triomphe and provides a stunning views of the city.
• That Luang Stupa

Day 2: Vientiane - Xieng Khouang - Phonsavanh - By Flight (B)
Breakfast at the hotel then transfer to domestic airport and take off to Xieng Khuang. Arrive at Phonsavanh then transfer to hotel down town then visit the Plain of Jars, Mysterious and ancient, the stone jars are apparently carved out of solid rock and are scattered all over the plateau. The biggest jar is more than 3.25 meters high. There are several
different theories as to the purpose of the jars, which are estimated to be 2,500 to 3,000 years old. O/N in Phonsavanh.
Day 3: Xieng Khouang - Luang Prabang - By Car 250 Kms
Upon leaving Phonsavanh we set off on our drive along a zigzag route through the rugged and verdant landscape to Luang Prabang. Excursion by car on to Luang Prabang for about 5-6 hours. Admire the beautiful scenery on the way. Arrive afternoon, transfer to hotel. Free Traditional Lao Message, a total experience of wellnese at Spa Garden. O/N in Luang Prabang. (B)
Day 4: Luang Prabang (B)
The exploration of this delightful town includes the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, which is overlooking the Mekong River. The temple structures are decorated in various ways with gilded stuccoes , doorways and marvellous tree life mosaic pattern on an outer wall, representing the ancient temple architecture of Luang Prabang. We follow it with the National Museum. This interesting mansion displays a lovely collection of treasures and artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through the last sovereign. There are also plenty to see in this town, some of which are the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun, the Srilankalese styled Temple of That Marko, the shrine of Wat Aham and the five tiered roof Wat Mai. We visit these sites and embark on a walk up to Phousi Hill for a beautiful panorama view from the town center and the mighty Mekong River. There are 329 steps leading us on zigzag way past various temples to the sacred, gilded stupa of Wat Phousi at the summit. O/N in Luang Prabang.
Day 5: Luang Prabang - Pakou Caves or Tam Ting Cave - Luang Prabang (B,L)
Rise early at dawn to experience life as a local by watching monks in saffron robes going on their Alms Collection before visiting the local fresh market. Soak in the history of Luang Prabang at the Royal Palace, now the National Museum, Wat Visoun with its iconic Watermelon Stupa and Wat Aham. Watch the adept skills of weavers as they demonstrate the significance of Silk Weaving in Lao culture at the Ock Pop Tok gallery where you will be inspired to design your own scarf.
Afternoon, gently cruise down Mekong River to admire the startling collection of gold-lacquered Buddha statues of all shapes and sizes nestled deep in the massive limestone caverns of the Pak Ou Caves.

Day 6: Luang Prabang - Vientiane (B)
After a free morning to relax. In the afternoon visit the production of traditional Lao textiles and Sa Paper by local artisans. Stop at Wat Pa Phon Pao,
a forest retreat before transferring to the airport for the evening
flight back to Vientiane. In Vientiane, transfer to your hotel on
arrival.

Day 7: Vientiane - Departure (B)
There is leisure time to explore cirty before after transfer to Wattay Airport for departure.
