You explore many minority villages in remote province of Ratanakiri before traveling by roads to Kratie, Kampong Cham and Kampong Thom. Staying overnight at Beng Mela, you share the food with local people , see their old age culture and visit the secluded temples in Koh Ker . The splendour of the Angkor Temples is all found in a your trip.
 
ITINERARY FOR THIS TRIP
Day 1: Arrival - Phnom Penh
Upon arrival at Phnom Penh airport, meets and transfers to hotel
Visit the National Museum, The Royal Palace, built by the French in 1866 on the site of the old town, and Silver Pagoda, which located within the Royal Palace ground. You will then end your tour with a visit to Wat Phnom Temple, Phnom Penh's namesake and have short tour to Killing Field were a number of sites in Cambodia where large numbers of people were killed and buried by the Khmer Rouge regime.

Day 2: Phnom Penh - Tonle Bati - Killing Field - Phnom Penh (B)
After breakfast at hotel, leaving Phnom Penh to majority of the Exhibits are from the Angkor period from 9th to 15th century, but some date from as early as the 4th century. The next stop is one of the city's lively open markets, Psar Toul Tom Pong, all called the "Russian Market". We enjoy a walk around this bustling trading center and see plenty of local handicrafts and artifacts. The painful bloody rule of the Khmer Rouge still can be seen at the Tuol Sleng Prison Museum and the notorious 'Killing Fields' of Choeung Ek. We visit these infamous sites before heading south to explore the complex of Tonle Bati with Ta Prohm and Prasat Yeay Peo Temple. The ideal way of spending your last evening in Cambodia is to relax in a cafe by the riverfront. O/N in Phnom Penh.

Day 3: Phnom Penh - Rattanakiri - Ban Lung - By Flight (B,L)
Transfer from Phnom Penh to Banlung via short flight, capital of Ratanakiri, nicknamed "The Red City" because of the omnipresent laterite with bumpy road for the discovery of the surrounding waterfalls. On arrival you are greeted by our guide and driven to hotel in Ban Lung Town. The exploration of this mountainous region begins with a short drive to Wat Phnom Soui, giving us a chance to catch the first view over the plateau and Banlung Town. We continue to Cha Oug Waterfalls and Yeak Laom Park. This protected area is looked after and managed by the regional authority .The main attraction of this area is Yeak Laom Lake, a volcanic crater lake believed to have been created about 700,000 years ago. The spectacular lake Surrounded by forest up to the crater is a beautiful oasis and a great place for a refreshing swim! We will walk along the lakeside and visit the simple visitor center, which exhibits different tools from the various tribes. O/N in Ban Lung.

Day 4: Ban Lung - Tampoum Totems - Ban Lung (B,L)
Today we spend a full day exploring the upstream are of the Se San River. The road conditions are very poor in this mountainous region therefore it is somewhat arduous to go overland. Along the way we make stop at Voeune Say, a village set by the Se San River. We stroll around this community and are sure to attract attention since this part of the country receive very few tourists. Upon leaving Voeune Say, we embark a traditional wooden long boat for a thrilling trip along the scenic Se San River, giving us a taste of adventure and an enjoyable visit to the Tampoun, Kroeng and Brou minority people. They have settled there long time ago and make for the main local population. These tribe groups are very poor but have an interesting local history and a colourful culture. O/N in Ban Lung.

Day 5: Ban Lung - Kroeung Territori - Ban Lung (B,L)
The exciting expedition continues with a drive northwards. We pass through various scenic landscape changing from the volcanic lava field of Veyrum Plang to Kroeung village. The Kroeung people have the curious custom of erecting bachelor houses standing on long bamboo poles. These houses will remain so till the young man finds a wife. At this seldom visited village we enjoy a walk to explore the simple life style of local people. They wear distinctive costumes and live in bamboo rustic huts. The next stop is Bai Srog , an impressive waterfall with seven levels in the middle of the forest. This is a pleasant stop to stretch our legs and enjoy a refreshment swim. O/N in Ban Lung.

Day 6: Ban Lung - Stung Treng (B,L)
The traditional morning market in Ban Lung also attracts a wide array of mountaineers who converge from the surrounding the mountainsides to trade their goods. Today we enjoy a short walk around this congregation before setting off on a rough but scenic drive to Stung Treng. These back roads are a great way to explore the real Cambodia. We see very few other travellers, mostly rural dwellers who are just as interested in finding out about our lives as we are of theirs. On arrival in Stung Treng we have time to stroll around this outpost town. There is not many things to see in Stung Treng apart from the countryside and few temples. O/N in Stung Treng

Day 7: Stung Treng - Kratie (B,L)
Upon leaving Stung Treng, the roads begins to deteriorate; however many villages dot the hillsides and undulating terrain make for an interesting journey. We arrive in Kratie after three and half hour drive and enjoy a short walk to see this tranquil town. The atmosphere is peaceful and the roadsides are spotted with many charming Khmer houses. Heading out of town we make our way to explore a temple complex containing Phnom Sambok and Kampi. They are some highlights in this region. The nearby temples of Phnom Srey and Phnom Pros are also a part of sightseeing in Kratie. By mid afternoon we drive towards the Mekong River and admire the dramatic sunset over this watercourse. The rare freshwater Irrawaddy dolphins may be seen in this scenic area. O/N in Kratie.

Day 8: Kratie - Kampong Cham - Kampong Thom - By Car 270 Kms (B,L)
The following destination of our expedition is Kampong Cham. This tranquil town has plenty of interesting sights, some of which are old colonial buildings and Wat Nokhor with the ancient temple and modern style pagoda. We include these in a short walking tour before we continue our trip though Cambodia's biggest growing rubber area to Kampong Thom. The deep contrast of lush vegetation and red surface of basaltic soil is incredible. Along the way we make stop over at Phnom Pros and Phnom Srei, two hills whose names were translated as the 'man hill' and the 'woman hill'. On arrival in Kampong Thom, we visit some nearby villages and climb 980 steps to the top of Phnom Santuk for an impressive sunset view over the surrounding areas. O/N in Kampong Thom.

Day 9: Kampong Thom - Beng Mela (B,L,D)
The archeological site of Sambor Prei Kuk is our next stop. This mysterious ruin is dotted with hundred pre-angkor styled temples. The road conditions are very poor, but the spectacular scenery , with a mixture of temples and forest makes the hardship all worthwhile. Upon leaving this landmark we make our way towards Siem Reap and pass through various Khmer traditional villages to Beng Mealea Temples. These newly found monuments are surrounded by the tranquil and stunning landscape. We visit these temples and a nearby village. Tonight we will be toasted as honored guests of a Khmer village and will be sample some of their homemade food! The facilities here are very basic, but it gives us a chance to live as many local villagers usually do. O/N at Khmer village.

Day 10: Beng Mela - Koh Ker Temples - Siem Reap By Car 80 Kms (B)
Today we have an option to rise up early to view the procession of monks making their rounds to receive alms from villagers. Upon leaving Beng Mela we travel by roads to the rarely visited temples of Koh Ker. The thrilling drive is strenuous at times but still an ideal way to discover the many roadside jungles and villages close up. On arrival at Koh Ker we explore a complex of 54 small temples in different groups. The main entrance leads us though the meeting rooms and the libraries to the great center temple constructed with 7th stories and 93 steps. Close to this complex is the tomb of Elephant Blanc's king . The next stop is a school at Koh Ker Village. The study conditions are very poor however your help is always appreciated. We return to Beng Mela and continue to Siem Reap. This tranquil town is our base for visiting the world famous Angkor Temples in coming days. O/N in Siem Reap.

Day 11: Siem Reap - Angkor Temples (B,D)
In the morning, you will visit the most famous of all the temples on the Angkor plain: Angkor Wat. The temple complex cover 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing . Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Angkor Wat's Five Tower symbolize Meru's five peaks, the enclosed wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat symbolizes the ocean beyond, included are Prasat Kravan (with its unique brick sculptures), Srah Srang ("The Royal Boths" was once used for ritual bathing), Banteay Kdei (surrounded by four concentric walls), Eastern Mebon (guarded at its corner by stone figures of harnessed elephants, some of which are still in a reasonable state of preservation) and the "Mountain Temple" of Pre Rup until sunset.
In the afternoon, transfer to the archaeological site and continue to the temple tour. Visit Ta Prohm, one of the most beautiful temples in the area. Ta Prohm has been left relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. Then, visit Takeo , Thommanon and Chau Say Tevoda Temples. After tour, you will enjoy buffet dinner with Traditional Apsara Dance Show

Day 12: Siem Reap - Tonle Sap Lake (B)
Visit the Floating Village of the Chong Khneas, located 10 kilometers south of Siem Reap. Take a traditional wooden boat for a ride on the Tonle Sap Lake, the "Great Lake" of Cambodia and the largest in Asia.
In the afternoon, visit " Les Artisans d'Angkor – Chantiers Ecoles " of Siem Reap and time at leisure at the local market . O/N in Siem Reap

Day 13: Siem Reap - Banteay Srei Temples (B)
Breakfast at Hotel, visit Banteay Srei temple (10th century), regarded as the jewel in the crown of classical khmer art. Then continue your visit to Banteay somre, built the third quarter of the 12th century .it consist of a central temple with four wings proceeded by a hall and accompanies by a two libraries, the southernmost of which is remarkably well preserved. Two concentric walls enclose the ensemble.

Day 14: Siem Reap - Departure (B)
We enjoy the leisure time in the morning until the flight departure.
